📊 What is Intellischool all about?
Here are the main features of our Intellischool Analytics suite that you’ll come across.
⚠️ It’s important to note that the features you have access to depends on whether you’re an Essentials or Premium subscriber. If you’re unsure, ask your school’s analytics administrator, or send us an email at help@intellischool.co.
🛣️ Where did the story begin for Intellischool?
Supporting schools with more effective and efficient data practice drives our entire team here at Intellischool. Our company grew out of the experiences of one of our co-founders, 🔗 Dave, in trying to solve a genuine need he had identified working with schools across Australia.
While there are many EdTech solutions out there, few of them integrate or share data properly. Dave struggled for nearly a decade to solve this problem with existing technologies and found that these solutions were often too costly and time-consuming for most schools to implement and maintain. So, Dave set out to solve this problem alongside our second co-founder, 🔗 Josh, who helped develop the technical platform. Josh's experience in senior data roles at some of Australia's biggest companies enabled them to develop an enterprise-grade solution that was within reach of all schools.
The end result is Intellischool: a company dedicated to bringing about positive change in education through the use of data. Our entire team at Intellischool is committed to supporting schools in making effective use of the data at their disposal, with our approach to design and engagement founded deeply in best pedagogical practice.
🔎 Where do I find Intellischool Analytics?
Where you’ll find your Analytics depends on the LMS (Learning Management System) you’re using. Regardless of your systems, all Intellischool users can access the Analytics via our native app, with instructions listed below.

📊 What kind of data will I find there?
While there’s lots of data floating around in schools, bringing it together into a unified space can be time-consuming and challenging, making effective use of data to inform teaching and learning even more difficult. With Intellischool, you’ll be able to bring together a multitude of data sources:
⚠️ It’s important to note that the specific data sources you’ll have access to depend on whether your school is an Essentials or Premium subscriber, and whether or not you’ve opted to include additional data sources in your subscription. If you’re unsure, ask your school’s analytics administrator, or send us an email at help@intellischool.co.
✅ Class + extracurricular attendance
In the Cohort Attendance tab, you’ll be able to delve into average attendance percentages across a specified timeframe. You’ll also have access to more granular information in the Learner Attendance tab about attendance in each period where it has been recorded, including the ability to filter to certain subject areas and attendance types. Schools using our partner platforms including 🔗 Clipboard will also be able to visualise student attendance at extracurricular activities.
🧑🏽🏫 Teacher + curriculum judgements
‘Teacher judgements’ refers to the grades recorded for school-based assessments as entered into your LMS. As an example, this might include judgements against curriculum progression points if you’re in a primary school, or percentage-based results if you’re in a secondary school.
Using our Moderation tool, learning leaders will also be able to see a broad comparison of results for a chosen subject across years, classes and individual assessments. If you’re capturing criterion-level results in your LMS for individual assessments, you’ll also be able to compare performance down to the criterion level.
📝 Standardised testing results
A wide range of different standardised testing results can be visualised through both the Cohort and Learner lenses. Some of our most common standardised testing sources include NAPLAN, ACER (PAT), Allwell, DIBELS, and Essential Assessment.
⚠️ As noted above, the standardised testing data that you’ll see in your school’s dashboards depends on your level of subscription. If you’re unsure of this, or want to inquire about adding additional data sources, send us an email at help@intellischool.co.
🧒🏼 Student task adherence
⚠️ This data source applies to schools who record task due dates and submission habits in their LMS, which are largely our secondary and K-12 schools.
Using our Cohort and Learner Tasks tab, you’ll be able to keep track of student work habits, including a breakdown of overdue work, late submissions, and non-submissions. You’ll also be able to easily isolate at-risk students in need of intervention.
👨🏻🦰 Staff task adherence
⚠️ This data source applies to schools who record task due dates and submission habits in their LMS, which are largely our secondary and K-12 schools. Access to this report is also subject to appropriate user permissions. 🔗 You’ll find more information on how to modify permissions here.
Learning leaders will be able to use this report to monitor teacher workloads and the time taken to mark submitted work.
🌿 Performance vs. 🌱 Progress Analytics
You may come across reference to our 🌿 Performance Analytics versus 🌱 Progress Analytics. We’ve developed two distinct sets of analytics lenses to better represent different types of school-based achievement data, and to address some common differences in primary versus secondary achievement reporting. While not exclusive to either secondary or primary schools respectively, the vast majority of our secondary school users will have access to 🌿 Performance Analytics, and the majority of primary school users will instead use 🌱 Progress Analytics.
💬 Staff involved in the decision-making process around Intellischool at your school will have discussed this with our team during the scoping and onboarding process. If you’d like any further information, 📧 reach out to our team anytime.
🤩 Good news! Schools are also able to request a combination of tabs from both 🌿 Performance and 🌱 Progress Analytics. If you’re interested in this, 📧 reach out to our team anytime.
➡️ What’s the difference between 🌿 Performance and 🌱 Progress Analytics?
There is some cross-over of identical tabs inside both 🌿 Performance and 🌱 Progress, including the Attendance, Standardised testing and Relative growth tabs inside Cohorts, and Attendance and Standardised testing inside Learners.
🌿 Performance Analytics has a heavier focus on percentage-based achievement reporting, given that the schools using this version of the analytics often collect a broader range of assessment results across a range of subject areas. 🌿 Performance also includes reporting student task adherence.
🌱 Progress Analytics incorporates reporting on curriculum progression points, which is often more suitable to primary schools who report in this manner twice per year.
🗺️ Where should I get started?
Depending on your role, you’re likely to spend more time in some areas of the Analytics than others.

Here are a few suggestions for quick and easy places to start:
👩🏻🏫 Classroom / Subject teacher
-
Cohort Relative Growth tab
Using this report, you’ll be able to quickly get an idea of students in your class who are regressing and those who are growing, which can help to inform necessary interventions to either provide scaffolding or extension for students. -
Cohort Attendance tab
Here you’ll be able to quickly identify students who fall into different categories of ‘risk’ for attendance, and to look more closely at students who are showing a decline in attendance over time. -
Cohort Tasks tab (🌿 Performance Analytics)
This tab will give you a feel for student work submission habits over your chosen time frame, and will help to quickly identify students who may require intervention, e.g. those with a high number of late submissions or overdue work.
🎓 Learning leaders (e.g. Heads of Learning and Teaching, Department, Learning Area)
-
Curriculum Moderation tab (🌿 Performance Analytics)
The Moderation tab is an excellent tool that allows learning leaders to visualise subject results across timeframes, classes and individual assessment tasks. If you’re capturing criterion-level results for assessments, you can also conduct fine-grain analysis at the criterion level here.
-
Cohort Standardised Testing tab
Reflecting on Standardised Testing results for your chosen cohort can help to identify skills gaps, and can support interventions for the current cohort, as well as potential improvements to curricula for future cohorts.
-
Staff Task Adherence report (🌿 Performance Analytics)
This report can both highlight areas requiring intervention as far as ‘data hygiene’ is concerned, and can also give an indication of staff workload and marking habits.
🪴 Pastoral / Wellbeing leaders
-
Pulse
These automated alerts can be especially powerful for wellbeing and pastoral leaders to be notified of a change in student trends sooner rather than later, such as a drop in attendance, or students who accumulate a certain number of absences or late arrivals within a specified time frame. -
