In order to upload your Essential Assessment results to Intellischool, there are a few steps you'll need to follow to retrieve this data.
⚠️ We use Student ID numbers to map student results to student records inside your analytics. Please make sure that your Student ID numbers inside Essential Assessment match the ID numbers inside your LMS. 📝 Product note as of August 2024:
Intellischool Analytics doesn't use 'General All' tests from Essential Assessment - instead, we capture post-test results against every literacy and numeracy Strand and Sub-Strand. At this point, we summarise that detail to a domain (Literacy or Numeracy) domain average. Looking forward on our Product roadmap, we're planning on developing tools to better support the analysis of pre and post-growth, as well as more granular analysis at the Strand and Sub-Strand level for Literacy and Numeracy.
📂 Downloading your Essential Assessment results
- Head to the Essential Assessment home page, and click 'Educator Login' in the top right-hand corner.
- Once you've logged in, look for the 'Online Assessment' tab and choose the 'Export data' option.
- Select the year that you'd like to download.
📂 Uploading your Essential Assessment results to Intellischool
- Head to the Settings area inside your Intellischool Analytics, and choose 'Data Sources'.
- ⚠️ You must have the appropriate permissions to access the 'Settings' area. If you are unable to find Settings, reach out to your school's Intellischool administrator, or send our Support team a message at help@intellischool.co.
- After clicking on the 'File upload' tab, click on the dark purple 'Upload' button next to Essential Assessment, and you'll be prompted to upload the file containing your students' results.

Inside the same 'File upload' tab, you'll see a table labelled 'History' at the bottom of the page. Here you'll be able to keep track of files that you've uploaded, and check on the status of the file sync, including the following information:
🔍 File validation
Before being uploaded, your file will be validated to ensure that it contains all of the information required. Please check over the following points:
- Rows that don’t meet validation requirements will be marked in red. Click the “Show rows with errors” button to isolate your view to these rows that require attention.
- If you're able to double-click into a particular cell, you can update any necessary data directly on this screen, rather than having to edit the file itself and re-upload.
- Once all data is correct, you can click the “Finish” button to upload your file.
- ⚠️ Please be aware that we're currently only able to ingest "post-test" data from Essential Assessment.
- ⚠️ Please also pay particular attention to the "ID" (Student ID) column. Values in this column are mandatory, and this step of the upload process will simply check that the column isn't empty. Although the file uploader tool will allow you to proceed if the "ID" column is populated, your Essential Assessment data will not display correctly if the ID in this column (i.e. the ID from Essential Assessment) doesn't match the student's ID within your LMS. We recommend double-checking the IDs for one or two students in both Essential Assessment and your LMS to make sure that they match.
